What This Section Is For

This section answers a different question from About or Work & Ventures: what is getting attention right now?

That matters because current interest, current capacity, and current direction are often more useful than historical background when someone is deciding whether to reach out, reconnect, or compare notes.

The goal is not to replace the larger story. It is to make the current chapter easier to read: what is active, what is being learned, what kinds of situations are interesting, and where attention is actually going.

The Current Chapter

The simplest read on right now: most of the build energy is going into infrastructure for AI-assisted work, and most of the operating energy is going into making the ventures — and the story around them — legible.

  • Running the homelab like a production platform. Centralized identity (FreeIPA with Authelia SSO), hardened public ingress behind Traefik with automated certificates and CrowdSec, Ceph storage services, and deep observability across everything — Prometheus, Loki, Grafana, Langfuse. Writing like Centralized TLS with ACME and Traefik comes directly out of this work.
  • Operating AI agents as production systems. Self-hosted agents with real deployment pipelines, tracing, log shipping, and steady improvement loops — plus integrations that connect them to the network, the infrastructure, and the knowledge systems they work inside. Treating agent operations with the same discipline as any other production service is the current frontier.
  • Making the work legible in public. This site moved from Notion to Hugo in the spring. Since then: automated deploys with link-checking CI, the first full public case studies, an organizer-ready media kit, and steady writing.
  • Building AspirationalX’s operating layer. Delegation systems — bookkeeping, financial access, structured client engagement, public offerings — so operations depend on documented systems instead of any one person’s memory.
  • Physical systems at home. A long run of LED lighting builds across the house (crown moulding, cabinet lighting, sound panels, outdoor architectural lights), landscaping, and home automation — the hands-on counterpart to the systems writing, some of it documented in posts.
  • Resolution work. Quietly closing the long tail of earlier ventures — note resolutions, entity wind-downs — the unfinished-business work described in The Predicament and The Lumate Arc.
  • Community and learning. Volunteering as a FIRST Robotics control-systems advisor, hackerspace involvement, a new amateur radio call sign, and travel with meaning earlier this year.
