I was introduced to incense as something to study, and that framing changed how I saw it.
There is a great deal to learn in this very old art. Incense is not only about fragrance. It can shape attention, atmosphere, pace, memory, and the feeling of a space in ways that are easy to overlook until you start paying close attention.
Part of what interests me is that it teaches subtle things: how to focus, how to move more deliberately, how to relax, and how sensory environment affects inner experience. There are many hidden values in it that are not obvious at first.
I have created a guide for myself, along with media and pictures to help explain the process, the differences between materials, and what to notice.
