This is a short reset I use when I suspect I am working hard, but possibly on the wrong thing.

Questions I Ask First

  • What am I focused on right now?
  • What outcome do I actually want?
  • Why does the right thing need focus?
  • Is the thing I am doing the most direct path to that outcome?

Quick Reset

  • stop multitasking if possible
  • if I am emotionally spun up, meditate or calm the body first
  • ask whether the right task is hard, uncomfortable, or simply less defined than the thing I am avoiding it with
  • check whether I have high confidence that the important task actually leads to what I want
  • if the right next step is too vague, make it smaller and more concrete
  • if I am stuck, do one clearly defined five-minute action and then reassess

What This Page Is For

This guide is less about perfect prioritization and more about catching drift early. A lot of bad days are not caused by laziness. They are caused by spending energy on something adjacent to the real problem because it feels easier, clearer, or safer.
