I call it the reboot because I needed a name for a specific thing:
I’m rebuilding my ability to steer my life and work with confidence after a decade of accumulated commitments, context, and cognitive debt.

This post is about the forward path: what “the reboot” is, why it has to be sequential, and how to work with me without recreating the same failure mode.
The issue the reboot is designed to solve
The issue is not “I need better productivity hacks.”
The issue is that for years I’ve had hundreds of tiny open tabs in my head: obligations, promises, unresolved threads, half-built systems, and relationships I care about that were left without clean narrative or closure.
That state makes it hard to do any of these well:
- choose a role (W-2, founder, board, partner) without second-guessing
- say yes without secretly financing it with stress
- lead teams without becoming the bottleneck
- communicate clearly enough that other people can execute without me
The reboot is a structural answer to that problem: stabilize the foundation, make the system visible, clear the noise, broadcast clearly, choose one mission, then execute at full power.
Why the reboot has to be sequential
I’ve learned the hard way that if I skip steps, things collapse.
For example: if I try to broadcast and scale (Phase 4) while my internal foundation is unstable (Phase 1), I end up shipping convincing words with unreliable follow-through. That damages trust and increases the load.
The reboot is a dependency chain. The sequence is the point.
One nuance: the logic is waterfall (prerequisites), but the effort is a wave. As one phase peaks, I start laying groundwork for the next so momentum stays continuous.
The six phases
Phase 1 — Self foundation (risk mitigation)
This is not “wellness content.” This is stabilizing the primary executive asset: cognitive bandwidth.
In scope for me here:
- therapy / coaching / CBT-style pattern work
- structured healing modalities
- spiritual / philosophical study that increases steadiness and reduces reactivity
Out of scope here:
- heavy new commitments
- “just build the thing” heroics
- public performance to prove I’m okay
The outcome is a centered, resourced version of me that can actually hold leadership without collapse.
Phase 2 — Operational systems (make the nervous system visible)
This phase is about building the organizational “nervous system” so nothing depends on my memory.
The mechanism is simple:
- a shared system of record
- consistent routing for projects, decisions, and updates
- a collective memory (docs, templates, reusable explainers)
The outcome is shared visibility over years of commitments and active work, so we can prune reality instead of guessing.
Phase 3 — Focus restoration (close loops, renegotiate, set new policies)
This is where I systematically reduce internal noise to zero.
That means:
- removing decade-old mental clutter that no longer serves the mission
- renegotiating promises that were made under old constraints
- establishing policies that prevent future overcommitment
The outcome is psychological spaciousness: my attention is no longer fragmented across unresolvable loops.
Phase 4 — Capability broadcasting (time-free trust)
Once the internal noise is down, I can explain what I’ve done and what I’m building without burning time in repeated 1:1 context rebuild.
The goal is an evergreen, multi-format body of work (writing, video, portfolio) that functions like a 24/7 representative:
- it builds trust while I’m executing
- it filters for aligned opportunities
- it makes it easy for the right people to self-serve context
Phase 5 — Opportunity discovery (choose the mission)
At this stage, “searching” becomes disciplined instead of chaotic.
The test is not whether something looks prestigious. The test is whether it is:
- sustainable (no burnout financing)
- high-impact (real outcomes, not motion)
- aligned (uses my highest-leverage abilities)
Phase 6 — High-impact execution (convert preparation into outcomes)
This is the culmination: with systems in place and focus restored, execution becomes concentrated power instead of struggle.
How to work with me during the reboot
If you want a working relationship with me in this season, these rules matter more than enthusiasm.
Prefer written clarity over “we’ll figure it out”
If it matters, I want it written:
- objective
- owner
- definition of done
- decision path
- update cadence
This is how we avoid me becoming the router and the historian again.
Bring options with trade-offs
The fastest way to help me decide is:
- “Here are three options, here are the trade-offs, here is what I recommend.”
Keep threads single-channel
One thread, one system of record.
If we fragment across texts + DMs + email + calls, I become the bottleneck by default.
Don’t confuse urgency with priority
The reboot only works if we choose priorities intentionally and say no without shame.
If you try to manufacture urgency to get attention, you’re training the old system back into existence.

I’m still very open to building real things. I’m just not open to hidden heroics.

The reboot is explicitly designed to make this easier:
- cleaner narrative
- clearer systems
- better cadence
- less dependence on my individual stress tolerance
