This page is the primary public interface for my time. In most cases, it gives a faster and more accurate answer than emailing or texting me to ask when I am free.
If you already know there is a reason to meet, the booking page is the fastest route. If you want to compare timing first, the merged calendar is the better place to start.
Best Ways To Interface With Me About Time
- If you want to schedule something directly, use the booking page.
- If you want to propose a time, check the merged calendar first and send 2-3 specific options.
- If you are sending a direct invite, send it to m@mikeaorlando.com with a clear title, purpose, expected duration, and meeting link.
- If the request is time-sensitive or within 48 hours, use the calendar and also confirm manually.
What The Public Calendar Means
- It is the best public picture of whether I am free or busy across my active calendars.
- It hides details by design. You can see whether time is open, but not the event names, attendee list, notes, or links.
- Travel, out-of-office time, appointments, and other planned unavailability belong there.
- Sleep is not blocked on the calendar, so late-night open space should not be treated as an invitation to schedule freely.
How To Get Faster And More Accurate Answers
- Start with the calendar instead of asking a broad “when are you free?” question.
- Send specific windows instead of open-ended requests.
- Include your timezone if you are not in Central Time.
- Include enough context for me to know whether the meeting should happen, how long it should be, and who needs to be there.
- If multiple people are involved, send the narrowest realistic set of options after checking the calendar first.
- If your free/busy details are public, send an invitation that works for you and I’ll offer a reschedule that works for us both.
Group Coordination
- If you are coordinating multiple people, I recommend using Doodle group polls.
- When someone invites me to a Doodle poll, I can connect my calendar and my available options will be added automatically.
- As my calendar changes, Doodle can keep that availability more up to date than a manual email thread.
- Doodle is usually the best path when you are trying to find overlap across several people, time zones, or organizations.
When Email Or Text Still Makes Sense
- Same-day coordination or last-minute changes of any already scheduled event.
- Anything unusual enough that free/busy alone is not enough context.
- Situations where the main question is whether we should meet, not just when.
